Community Chest
By shopping in an IGA store and buying IGA branded products or selected lines marked with the Community Chest logo, 1 cent from each of these products sold is set aside. At the end of each year, your local IGA store selects a local group or charity to donate all of the money that has been collected at the store.
Our three IGA Community Chest primary recipients of these substantial donations will be...
1. the Country Fire Authority, the world's largest emergency services organization that primarily protects us from the ravages of bushfire every summer and all sorts of other fire and general emergencies and..
2. Last year support from IGA contributed to training 21,419 school staff across Victoria in asthma management and assisted more than 239 CFA brigades.
“CFA works all year round to reduce the effect and impact of fire in Victoria and IGA’s donations help brigades improve on the excellent work they are already doing,” said CFA Chief Executive Officer, Neil Bibby. “With summer upon us, it’s a great time to highlight this and to thank IGA for their continued support.”
Michael Abramson, Professor of Clinical Epidemiology at Monash University said usually more people are affected by smoke inhalation during bushfires than burns and other injuries. In addition to taking measures recommended by fire services such as CFA, people with asthma need to protect their lung health during the summer season
3.THE REACH.ORGANISATION
Often the biggest barrier between a teenager and his or her goals is a lack of self-belief and support.
At Reach, specially trained Crew of inspirational young leaders run workshops, weekends away and large-scale events that help young people to connect with each other.
Each year we run 14 different Reach programs in more than 400 locations to over 40,000 teenagers aged 13-18.
By creating an ecouraging, supportive and stimulating environment, teenagers discover for themselves that they can do anything they set their minds to. It's this personal discovery that makes the best teacher.
Independent research shows Reach helps young people improve self-esteem and gain a greater sense of control over their lives.

Combining the Community Chest as well as Michaels Supa IGA Community Rewards we have donated the following sums
to local CFA units since 2001.

4. the IGA Community Chest Disaster Fund has been created to permit IGA retailers to direct masses funds towards those impacted by a "disaster" that has occurred.
Every time you purchase one of our quality IGA branded items we donate 1c to the IGA Community Chest.
